The Christmas Tag

Monday, 5 December 2016

We're nearly a week into December and things are getting jolly festive! I've finally put up the Christmas tree, I've got presents I've ordered for people arriving left, right and centre and we're starting to discuss the food we need to stock up the fridge with (cheese and more cheese, please)

It's all very exciting! SO, to top it all off, a very happy thank you to the lovely Rebecca for including me in the Christmas Tag! This was really fun to do, so I hope you like it. Don't forget to check out the blogs of the ladies I have tagged below.

Battling Through Winter

Wednesday, 30 November 2016

I always feel weird around autumn/winter time.

I suffer from horrendous bouts of depersonalization that can last weeks at a time.

For the first month or so, when the change of season really starts to kick in, I find myself slipping into an auto-pilot state, only vaguely aware of myself and my surroundings, I suffer a bizarre combination somewhere between nostalgic hopelessness and being full-on emotionally stunted. If you've spoken or seen me throughout October or November, you may have noticed it's like witnessing someone floating around on another planet.

Hello November

Sunday, 6 November 2016

I feel like way too many of my blog posts open with my dismay that yet another month has gone by - where the hell is the time going? I've been a little bit rubbish recently, things have sort of got on top of me and I'm trying to catch up with everything, so my blogging has unfortunately suffered a bit - which is why I thought I would begin this month with a little update.

Olympus Pen E-PL8 Unboxing

Friday, 21 October 2016

Blogger Camera 2016 Olympus E-PL8 Unboxing
I cannot express how relieved I am to finally have this beautiful camera in my hands after what can only be described as the most anxiety-ridden delivery & horrendous customer service experience of my life.

Negatives aside (I think there's a photography pun in there somewhere?) anyone who has been following my blog may have noticed that (up until recently, oops) I've been posting pretty much every single day throughout October, something I have thoroughly enjoyed doing as a creative outlet, and has inspired me to continue working hard on producing engaging content - I definitely feel this time round has been a lot more successful than the previous times I have dabbled in blogging.

So, to celebrate my newfound 'I can do this' attitude, I decided to invest in a new, and much more capable camera, something compact and lightweight but also versatile enough to cover all bases, from quick Instagram snaps, to high-quality YouTube videos. After hours of research and endless trawling on the internet I discovered that the new Olympus E-PL8 was soon to be released, and I fell instantly in love.

Why I Stopped Wearing A Bra

Thursday, 13 October 2016

I have been debating whether or not to write this post for a little while now, primarily because I wasn't sure if it was a subject that anyone could relate to or would even be interested in. However, after doing a little bit of research on the 'ole internet, I discovered that not only is this a topic very much in discussion, it's also very relevant because today is *drum roll* NATIONAL NO BRA DAY!

This makes me so happy, not only because it's a fantastic way of raising awareness for breast cancer, a subject very close to my heart, but it's also a wonderful way of giving women the opportunity to celebrate what mother nature gave 'em!

Mental Health Matters

Monday, 10 October 2016

One in every four people suffer from a mental health issue. Mixed anxiety & depression is the most common mental disorder in Britain, with 7.8% of people meeting criteria for diagnosis. It really does make it all the more baffling that we are still living in a society that chooses to treat mental health as a taboo subject bound in misconceptions.

"There are people that have it a lot worse off than you, at least you have your health"

"Cheer up, it might never happen"

"It's all in your head, just be more positive!"

Things That Make Me Smile

Friday, 7 October 2016

Today is National Smile Day, which I think is absolutely the most wonderful thing ever, so I thought I would share with you some things that make me grin!

Celebrating One Year in Marketing

Thursday, 6 October 2016

Today marks my 1st workiversary.

That's 365 whole days without being fired once.

I am aware that it isn't the most outstanding achievement, nor should I be acting as if I deserve a medal for lasting twelve months in employment. However, the thing is, I have had to endure some pretty shitty (to say the least) circumstances to get here.

I left University in 2012 with a degree in Creative Media & Journalism, a course so vague I could have crow-barred it into pretty much any job application, I decided to venture into marketing as I believed this was the best way of making productive use of all the skills I have acquired during my two years studying.

Turns out it's not that easy.

Marketing is a fickle bitch.

Am I Wasting My Life?

Wednesday, 5 October 2016

I'm going to be twenty-three in March. TWO-THREE.

I know in the grand scheme of my existence that isn't a colossal number and I'm certain those senior to me will scoff in my face, as they often do when I let out hopeless sighs, exclaiming: 'I'm getting old!' Which is why I feel inclined to explain that it's not necessarily that I am paranoid about my creeping age, I don't wake up each morning panic-stricken that I may discover a new wrinkle or that it may take me a split second longer to clamber out of bed. Nope, twenty-three isn't old, I do know that. The topic I am delving into is beyond physical deterioration.

The thing is, I have had a recent realisation that I definitely do not have twenty-three years worth of stories to tell. These years have dissipated with the blink of an eye, and now I'm anxiously questioning 'where has the time gone, and what have I even got to show for it?' And that is monumentally more terrifying than any grey hair.

Life after Nexplanon

Wednesday, 21 September 2016

I suppose this is one of those topics you just sort of have to dive straight into, but before I do I just want to clarify that this is a personal story based totally on my own experience, don't take my words as gospel, every woman is different and every person reacts differently to different chemicals in their body. What hasn't worked for me, may work perfectly for you, and that's great!

Here goes nothing...

I first had the contraceptive implant inserted when I was sixteen years old, at this point it was the Implanon brand and in hindsight, especially as a now twenty-two-year-old with younger step-sisters, I can appreciate how young that is to make a critical decision about your body, more so in my case where it was a decision based on not very much information or research.
